Environmental Services Technician Job Summary:

MGA Healthcare seeks experienced Environmental Services Technicians for part-time opportunities available in Placerville, CA. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the department while maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies pertinent to the departmental operation.

Environmental Services Technician Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient location and identification.
  • Transfer and/or assist patients during transport, following departmental safety guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients and respond to patient needs 
  •  Transport specimen, equipment, blood, etc. to the appropriate area in a safe and efficient manner as instructed by licensed personnel.
  • Provide furniture and equipment pertinent to  scheduled  surgical procedure to  surgical  suite.
  • Transport patients to surgery and other hospital departments as needed.
  • Prepare the unit for cases/ procedures utilizing functional equipment and supplies
  •  Route non-functional equipment to proper maintenance department for repair, noting on equipment what the malfunction appears to be. Assist in minor maintenance functions (i.e. replace OR table controller). 
  • Set up and troubleshoot all equipment in service line and 85% of all equipment in other services.
  • Clean equipment, tables and floor as required with proper cleaning solution.
  • Collect, bag and remove soiled linen and trash properly.
  • Replace suction liners, trash bags and other supplies as needed.
  • Return cleaned equipment to the appropriate area after the case.
  • Stock and maintain adequate levels of supplies at scrub sink and sub-rooms as appropriate.
  • Maintain orderly work environment by keeping operating rooms, storage areas, hallways and all units clean, tidy and hazard free.

Environmental Services Technician Qualifications:

  • Six months experience in a surgical hospital setting or outside agency combination of experience and/or education.
  • BLS-HCP; Certification in specialty area required for some positions.
  • High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Work requires basic mechanical knowledge for assembly of equipment and the ability to comprehend and follow instructions normally acquired through a partial high school education.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of effective English written and communication, basic computer proficiency and basic dysrhythmia knowledge for specialty tech in critical care area or telemetry monitoring area.
